You don’t have to be a professional gambler or a gambling addict to enjoy what casinos have to offer. Even the most casual gambler can find plenty to entertain them at a casino.

You’ve probably seen one of those bumper stickers that say: “I Wasn’t Born in [name of state], But I Got Here as Quick as I Could!” Well, that’s how I feel about WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma; I wasn’t born there, but… well, you get the idea. By the way, I have no vested interest in WinStar; I have an interest – but it isn’t vested!

There’s something about casinos – in addition to the gaming — that keep people coming back. Consider casinos as a form of entertainment. Many are now “resorts” with an adjoining hotel for close-by accommodations and all the amenities that go along with it. Depending on their size, in addition to various sorts of gaming, casinos may offer: pgslot

• Big Name Entertainment
• A Sports Lounge (with TV’s Showing All Sorts of Sporting Events)
• Lots of Places to Eat (from fancy, sit-down restaurants to snack bars)
• A Swimming Pool
• Exercise Facility and Spa
• Golf

In most states, casinos are on Indian reservation property because that’s the only way they are legal. According to the National Indian Gaming Commission’s Gaming Tribe Report, as of July, 2011, there were 460 Indian gaming operations in the United States. Thirty-six states (perhaps more by now) have Indian casinos, and that doesn’t count Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

As for the fact that they may be Indian casinos, it’s only fair that tribes may be trying to get back some of what was taken from them for over 200 years. According to Brett D. Fromso in his book, “Hitting the Jackpot”, Foxwoods Casino’s Pequot Tribe was, at one time, “the richest Indian Tribe in history.”

In all honesty, from Foxwoods Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut, to Chinook Winds Casino in Lincoln City, Oregon, I never met a casino I didn’t like. And, I’ve met a lot of them. We’ve travelled by motorhome throughout all the continental 48 states, and we’ve visited casinos in every state that has them. It’s a form of entertainment for us that provides a lot of pleasure. We happen to live in a state that has only one casino that isn’t very handy, so we go to an adjoining state with one that is.
